Program Manager, Livable Communities Project, n4a - Chicago
Position: Program Manager, Livable Communities Project
The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall program coordination and
administration of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging’s (n4a) Livable Communities Project. This 15-month grant funded effort will work with six selected communities selected from across the nation to assist them prepare for the aging of the population in areas that include transportation, housing, land use planning, workforce development, lifelong learning and civic engagement. In addition to providing technical assistance to the six sites, the project will also host a
Livable Communities Symposium and develop a Compendium of Successful Livable Communities Practices.
OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Coordination/Management
• Provide overall coordination of the project budget and work plan.
• Serve as direct liaison to funder on all project issues.
• Coordinate and convene meetings of six sites and coordinates logistics for Symposium.
• Research, compile, and publish Compendium of Successful Practices.
• Prepare project progress and financial reports as required by the funder.
Ongoing Responsibilities
• Provide input and oversight into all project deliverables.
• Review and approve all expenses related to the grant.
• Develop and implement outreach and marketing activities for the grant.
• Comply with n4a’s overall messaging and strategic plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree plus four years relevant and progressively responsible work experience, or a
Master’s Degree with relevant work experience in planning.
• Knowledge or experience working in a planning environment;
• Knowledge or experience working in the Aging Services Network;
• Ability to plan, develop and implement projects;
• Ability to develop partnerships and work well with multiple, diverse partners and stakeholders at the national and local level;
• Ability to budget and manage program expenditures;
• Ability to effectively communicate and express ideas (verbally and written);
• Strong decision-making skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Ability to make sound recommendations based on facts and logical assumptions;
• Ability to establish a course of action for oneself and others to accomplish specific goals; plan proper and timely
accomplishment of goals and appropriate use of resources.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team; and
• Ability to meet deadlines and to work well under pressure.
WORK HOURS/SALARY RANGE
Exempt position with full benefits but subject to grant funding. Salary range is dependent on the qualifications and experience of candidate.
