MPC is currently seeking multiple research assistant candidates. These are
generally unpaid positions, but provide a great deal of professional
experience. We generally prefer graduate students who will receive some
sort of credit or meet a program requirement through their work here,
but we are open to considering mature, seasoned undergraduates as well.

_Organizational communications_
·Assist with promotion of MPC’s annual Placemaking contest.
·Assist with producing web, video and print products to support projects
and communicate MPC’s impact.
·Assist with events planning, in particular Roundtables and the Annual
Luncheon.

_Federal, state and local transportation policy_
·Assist with a parking demand study including neighborhood survey,
public meetings, and analyzing results
·Research and document existing Illinois legal structures and financing
tools
·Research for blog posts and MPC’s Talking Transit newsletter on state
and federal transportation issues
·Track federal and state legislation for staff briefings
_Program evaluation_
·Design survey instruments, analyze data, prepare presentations, and
client outreach.
·Assist on review of North American Transportation Demand Management
(TDM) concepts as part of preparation of a Chicago area TDM plan
·Assist in Commute Options Providers Meeting, write blog posts on TDM
topics.
·Assist with building case studies of successful EAH programs, including
analyzing data and charting/ mapping results
·Assist with creating EAH programming in 2 industrial corridors.
Coordinate with partners to implement effort
_Water resources_
·Writing blog posts and assisting with content management for What our
Water’s Worth
·Provide GIS assistance for various water projects (NWPA, Lake Zurich,
stormwater research, Blue Island)
·Policy and/or legal research on water supply and stormwater topics,
including effluent reuse, green infrastructure incentives, regional
water supply management, etc.
·Case study development for water reuse examples and Illinois Green
Infrastructure Grant projects
_Workforce housing_
·Assist with the voucher pilot’s implementation, including household
data collection for our MacArthur research grant, producing a developer
handbook outlining RHI procedures and how to access other resources,
helping plan developer workshops and meetings
·Support MPC staff with the Woodlawn (CBI) project, including analyzing
community input to inform the role of Network of Woodlawn as they pursue
a comprehensive community development strategy and helping plan for the
community engagement meetings
