Position Type/ Hours: This is a permanent full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week within the Comprehensive Planning Branch of the Planning and Development Department.
Position Description: Under broad supervision, research, prepare and present statutory documents, reports, studies, and statistical analysis ensuring stakeholder input, for planning projects to include solutions to contemporary planning problems. Manage assigned projects to meet time and budget goals. In addition, this position will provide back-up coverage for the subdivision and development functions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree in Planning or equivalent education and experience in urban planning.
• Minimum three (3) years experience in planning or related discipline with knowledge of computer applications, with one (1) year experience in leading planning related projects.
You will possess the following:
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Must possess proven leadership ability and skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff and tactfully handle complaints and inquiries.
• Legal aptitude is required.
• Must be capable of acquiring knowledge of pertinent Municipal Bylaws, processes and procedures.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of land use regulations, legal, environmental, infrastructure, development control, finance and economics and other considerations that are part of plan and policy implementation.
• Advanced knowledge of methods for implementing public policy and community planning.
• Applies project management concepts (e.g., project goals, scope, and the importance of principles such as time and cost).
• Working knowledge of zoning ordinances and planning procedures and structure of council-manager municipality.
• Effective communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are required.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Valid Class five (5) Driver's license and a personal vehicle for business use is required.
• Must be willing to attend evening meetings and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Pay Level: PL 19
Salary Range: $44.43 (Probationary Rate) $48.85 – $52.38 (Permanent Rates)
