M.O.R.E. Project Coordinator
Summary: The M.O.R.E. Project Coordinator will support the activities of a new initiative of the National Transitional Jobs Network (NTJN) at Heartland Alliance called the M.O.R.E. Project - Men of Color Realizing Employment. This ground-breaking work seeks to advance economic opportunities for men of color across the country through program development, coalition-building, and policy advocacy.
The M.O.R.E. Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the goals of this new initiative through policy and program research and writing, coalition building, advocacy and public education focused on advancing economic opportunity for men of color across the country.
The National Transitional Jobs Network (NTJN), a project of Heartland Alliance, is a national coalition dedicated to getting chronically unemployed Americans back to work. We advance effective employment solutions including Transitional Jobs that combine wage-paid work, job skills training, and supportive services to help individuals facing barriers to employment succeed in the workforce. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development and launch of M.O.R.E. in alignment with project goals to ensure strong, achievable objectives, winnable victories, and lasting impacts.
- Develop, maintain, and manage the M.O.R.E. project work plan reflecting milestones, internal and external meetings and touch-points, deliverables, and priorities for implementationIdentify, engage, and build relationships with key stakeholders through outreach, meetings and identification of shared interests.
- Develop and manage input processes and cross-sectoral collaboration for a variety of stakeholder groups including service providers, experts, and advocates.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in the fields of employment, child support and fatherhood through literature, participation in webinars, and attendance at relevant meetings.
- Develop, in partnership with other team members, high quality fact sheets, briefs, website content, newsletter content, social media, and other written materials related to M.O.R.E..
- Coordinate outreach, content, logistics and follow-up for M.O.R.E.’s web seminars, trainings, conferences, and meetings.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and trainings for M.O.R.E..
- Provide staff support to other NTJN initiatives as needed.
- Represent the National Transitional Jobs Network and Heartland Alliance externally at relevant events, speaking engagements, trainings and presentations, and other key stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Education and/or Experience: 5 or more years experience working in community organizing, coalition building, or leadership within community-based organizations or social service agencies; and diverse coalitions of stakeholders related to men of color as it pertains to economic opportunity and advancement. Years of education in public policy, public administration, social work, urban planning or related fields will be credited towards years of experience.
- Language/Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience and comfort with public speaking and facilitation.
- Computer Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and management of web content and social media. Familiarity with Microsoft Office package.
- Other Skills: Commitment to effective networking, collaboration and demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships with diverse staff and external stakeholders. Understanding of the importance of coalition-building activities and their impact on issue-based social change movements. Working knowledge of policies and programs related to men of color as it pertains to employment, fatherhood, or child support. Strong planning, facilitation, and organizational skills. Ability to work under tight timelines, think conceptually, and take a proactive role in executing and completing projects. Ability to work well in groups and within teams as well as individually.
