Public Health is hiring part-time hourly facilitators for a new research
study titled “Preventing HIV/AIDS Among Teens in Juvenile Justice (PHAT
Life).” The PHAT Life study is a 2-arm randomized controlled trial of a
uniquely-tailored intervention designed for juvenile offenders on
probation. The program will teach teens about HIV/AIDS, sexually
transmitted infections, and safer decision-making.
Facilitators will be trained to team-teach an 8 session PHAT Life
intervention with small groups of youth (ages 13 to 17). Most
intervention programs will occur Monday through Thursday from 5:00-7:00
pm for two consecutive weeks at probation sites in the community.
Facilitators should expect to teach one 2-week program every 1-2
months. Position is ideal for students or those interested in picking up
additional work hours in the evening.
Qualified candidates will have a background in Public Health or
Psychology, experience teaching or working with youth, and a desire to
work with high-risk populations. Experience with youth in the juvenile
justice setting is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
required. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Sorry
no tuition wavers are available.
