This position is located in the Pacific West Regional Office in the Office of the Superintendent for Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, San Francisco, CA.
The full performance level of this position is GS-12.
Note: This is a full-time, permanent position.
Work Schedule: This position is full-time and seasonal in nature, subject to non-pay status. Non-pay status means, work will last at least 13 pay periods and not exceed 25 pay periods in a year. During this period which can be up to six months long, you will be placed in non-duty/non-pay status. Actual work schedule and period of non-pay status is contingent upon funding and operational needs.

The incumbent will be responsible for assisting Tribal, Federal, state and local government entities, as well as private organizations with complex initiatives involving coordination of a variety of planning and study activities. The incumbent will be responsible for negotiating working agreements to carry out complex cooperative planning projects. Lead planner for preparing and implementing management plans, including the development and implementation of methodologies, evaluation of resources and development of long range implementation strategies.

Specialized Experience: 1 year equivalent to at least GS-12 in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position.
The ability to plan and coordinate the use of land, water and related sources for recreation and conservation purposes. Examples of qualifying experience include:
- Ability to deal with people of differing backgrounds and behavioral patterns.
- Analysis and evaluation of outdoor recreation interests, habits, and needs of diversified groups, and the means for meeting those needs.
- Evaluation of land or water areas for their recreation and related potential use, such as wildlife reserve.
- Preparation or review of plans and programs for natural resource utilization and recreation area development.
- Solution of administrative, intergovernmental, socioeconomic, and other problems involved in providing adequate recreation opportunities while preserving, restoring, and enhancing the quality of the outdoor environment.
NOTE: Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities regardless if compensation was received. There will be an initial probationary period of one year for this position.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Your rating will be based on both your responses to the Job Assessment Questionnaire and the information stated in your resume. The assessment questions relate to the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs)/competencies that are required to perform the work of this position. Applicants considered best qualified must be highly proficient in all requirements of the job and be able to perform effectively in the position.
Category Group II (Well Qualified) - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job.
Category Group III (Qualified) - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all of the requirements of the job.
VETERANS PREFERENCE: Veterans Preference applies to category rating. Within each quality category, veteran's preference eligibles are listed first, including CP, CPS, XP, and TP. In addition, veterans who have a 10% or more service-connected compensable disability (CP or CPS) are placed at the top of the highest quality category. Individuals who have special priority selection rights under CTAP/ICTAP must be rated well-qualified under Category Ranking procedures, for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Candidates who meet the requirements for the Well Qualified Category will be placed at the top of this Category and be given selection priority.
