Responsibilities include (but not limited to): 
  • Developing short-range plans for implementation of new or modified routes, discontinuance of unproductive service, amenity improvements, capital needs, and coordination projects with other public transit and community transportation services. 
  • Coordinating with the GoTriangle Service Planning Team and with other technical and administrative staff of local bus and community transportation systems, university transportation services, local governments and appropriate State and Federal officials. 
  • Researching and identifying potential funding sources for short-range plan improvements. 
  • Devising, administering and/or analyzing surveys of transit customers, employees, and the general public. 
  • Analyzing a variety of transit performance and fare media data and making recommendations for new or revised services or fare policies; preparing reports summarizing the findings of the analysis. 
  • Initiating schedule or fare changes to meet customer demand. 
  • Assembling related statistical data and compiling reports. 
  • Producing written documents based on research, analysis and incorporation of stakeholder feedback. 
  • Managing consultant studies, including the preparation of requests for proposals, selection of consultants and supervision of consultant work. 
  • Generating maps and analyzing spatial data using GIS software. 
  • Preparing Board presentation materials and presenting reports or proposals to interdepartmental committees, governmental meetings and public groups. 
  • Coordinating public involvement activities soliciting public feedback on service plan and fare policy proposals with staff from Government and Community Relations Department.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in planning, or related field and moderate experience in progressively responsible transportation or land use roles, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate has a comprehensive understanding of transportation planning techniques, including statistics and survey techniques, standard office equipment and related hardware and software. A general knowledge of standard GIS software and equipment is required. The individual must have the ability to analyze data concerning ridership, demographics, spatial information, costs and revenues along with the ability to exercise independent judgment in the analysis and solution of complex route and schedule problems, using logical reasoning and good judgment.
Candidate must exhibit leadership skills to include the ability to direct the work of others, train and motivate staff. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate, orally and in writing. This individual is detail oriented, has good time management skills and multi tasks effectively. Must be comfortable with giving professional presentations.
The salary range for this position is $49,400-$87,900 and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.
