The School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the Urban Studies and Planning Program (URSP).
The successful candidate will be an active participant in the University's three-fold mission of education, research and public outreach, and is expected to contribute to an inter-disciplinary academic environment with an active externally-funded research agenda that links theory and practice. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to our explicit commitment to public outreach and engagement, while educating and mentoring both professionally-oriented Master of Community Planning (MCP) students as well as students in the Ph.D. program in Urban and Regional Planning and Design. The successful candidate will also, when feasible, create courses or use their regular courses to participate in the University's new Partnership for Action Learning in Sustainability, described at http://smartgrowth.umd.edu/PALS.html. The successful candidate might also become involved in research activities with the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education, profiled at www.smartgrowth.umd.edu. Either Community or Economic Development areas of specialization is being sought.
