Assistant Professor, Tenure Track Community and Regional Planning
Temple University’s Department of Community and Regional Planning in the School of Environmental Design (http://www.temple.edu/ambler/crp) invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor. The position will start in fall 2016.
The Department is seeking candidates with expertise in applied analytical methods fundamental to the Bachelor of Science in Community Development and Master of Science in Community and Regional Planning. The ideal candidate would have teaching experience, an established research agenda and record of publication demonstrating expertise in the application of geospatial analysis and development of decision support tools in the subfields of environmental planning and sustainability, land-use and urban form, and/or other area that strengthens the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. The preferred candidate will have the capacity to develop advanced computer applications such as 3D modeling, GEOdesign, visualization, and other courses to support the creation of an urban design graduate concentration and post-professional graduate program in collaboration with the department of Architecture. The ability to contribute to the Department’s growth through teaching excellence, curriculum development, and service as well as through research with the Center for Sustainable Communities is expected.
The School of Environmental Design is comprised of the departments of Community and Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture/Horticulture and the Center for Sustainable Communities, an applied research center. The School offers three undergraduate majors, two graduate degrees and a range of minors and certificates. The administrative home of the School is on Temple’s Ambler campus, which provides Department faculty with opportunities to teach and conduct research on the unique planning and development challenges faced by the City of Philadelphia and the greater metropolitan region. The Department offers its academic programs on multiple campuses, some via video conference. The faculty is distinguished by rich professional experience, which enables us to offer an educational program steeped in the craft of planning. Faculty conduct applied research through the Center for Sustainable Communities, which has secured over $10 million in externally- funded planning studies focused on public policy and infrastructure since its inception in 2001.
