The University of Minnesota’s Landscape Architecture Department is searching for a new colleague to join our faculty! We are seeking an energetic and collaborative tenure-track faculty member (Assistant Professor) with teaching and/or creative practice or professional expertise in the design and planning of resilient metropolitan and urban landscapes. We are looking for bright minds with creative and/or scholarly work that contributes in significant ways to the development of resilient landscapes and the future of our discipline.
Priority will be given to applications received by November 1 but the position will remain open until filled.
Required Qualifications:
  • At least one accredited degree in Landscape Architecture
  • An MLA or a graduate degree in a related field
  • Experience in teaching/leading design studios in an accredited landscape architecture program
  • Experience in contributing to the design/development of resilient metropolitan and urban landscapes through research, teaching, and/or creative practice
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others including allied disciplines and professions
Desired Qualities:
In addition to the required qualifications, we hope the candidate will possess some of the following qualities:
  • Experience in advising students in an accredited landscape architecture program, including on their final/capstone projects
  • Experience in working at a range of environmental scales and settings in multidisciplinary teams and engaging a wide range of stakeholders
  • Understanding of relationships and synergies between education, research and/or practice in landscape architecture
  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary research and/or design teams
  • Capacity to garner external funding
  • Ability to generate additional creative and/or scholarly work that is peer-reviewed and contributes to the development of new principles and/or practices for the planning and design of resilient metropolitan and urban landscapes
  • Earned doctorate in a related field
  • Adds to the diversity and multicultural competencies of our faculty
