The City of Thomasville is seeking a Planner with strong design skills and a thorough understanding of town planning, urban form, and new urban principles and practices. Candidate will perform a variety of professional duties to include the creation of plan drawings, urban design diagrams and maps, site designs, site plan review, architectural plan review, drafting comprehensive and area plans, ordinance writing, form-based codes, preservation planning, and related functions. Candidate will be a key contributor to the City of Thomasville regarding future visioning and planning endeavors and should possess a deep-seated interest and understanding of community planning and civic engagement, including the charrette process. The City is in the midst of a planning renaissance, including downtown civic projects, future master plans, and a full re-write of its zoning ordinance. Candidate will have multiple opportunities for creative expression and growth, and will work under the direct supervision of the City Planner.

Qualifications: 
Applicants should have a graduate degree in city planning, urban planning, or similar field; or a bachelor's degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or urban design. They should possess the ability to read and interpret concept plans and zoning maps; as well as architectural, engineering, and building plans. Applicants should be proficient in or familiar with one or more urban planning software programs, including: ArcView/ArcGIS, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar. Hand sketching or rendering skills are a plus. We’re looking for a new planner/graphic designer to participate as part of our team. The ideal candidate would communicate well both through their work and in the office. They will bring their experience in planning, architecture, landscape architecture or urban design to our work in communities across the country. We need immediate graphic design support including the creation of 3-D building and urban design models, and preparation of highly visual documents and elegant maps. We anticipate moving this person into an associate-level position over time.
The successful candidate will have:

People Organizing Place (POP) is the participatory city shaping arm of [bc]. The Miami Downtown Development Authority is seeking a Research & GIS Coordinator.  This position provides and prepares a range of research reports, data analysis, systems design, and support of computer-based GIS (Geographic Information Systems) mapping and related statistical software to advance economic and public policy initiatives.  
Performs data analysis and map/graphic production. Designs/deploys workflows and integration of research and GIS to meet analysis objectives. Compiles and integrates cartographic data from a wide variety of sources for inclusion in maps. Creates and edits tabular and geospatial data, integrating into interactive and online platforms. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant macro and micro economic indicators, including tourism, real estate, monetary policy, taxes, employment, industry clusters, etc. Generate visualizations (charts, maps, tables, etc.) that showcase research clearly. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Geography, Computer Science, Economics, Urban Planning or related fields; and at least two years progressively responsible experience in similar setting.  Master’s degree highly desired, which may be substituted for experience.   Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in an efficient and timely manner.   Requires familiarity with urban planning, GIS, economic development, and market research methods. Main Purpose & Function
The Data Analyst will join the buildingcommunityWORKSHOP bcANALYTICS effort to strengthen neighborhoods by employing data and research for informed decision-making. The focus is on the strategic and systematic use of data to tackle urban and civic issues, particularly those affecting asset-poor families. The position will work within the bcANALYTICS team with oversight from the Director and in support of other [bc] staff. 
The Data Analyst’s work will be focused on (1) the collection, visualization, reporting of data to answer questions identified by neighborhood working groups (2) serve as a data intermediary between partner institutions and [bc] (3) support a wider development of community-wide data resources.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Collect and track community and neighborhood indicators related to trends in quality of life around education, economic development, housing, health, and public safety including data from public sources 
Collect, analyze, and present social, demographic, economic, property, and program data
Prepare reports for non-profit organization efforts to aid in organizational strategic decision-making 
Draft and implement data sharing agreements as needed
Deliver data content for group seminars, forums, public communication, and presentations
Coordinate with diverse group of local stakeholders (including neighborhood groups, non-profit organizations, and local government) to advance a data strategy for cities in Texas
Qualifications 
Required:
Bachelors degree in applied statistics, urban planning, computer science, or social science with emphasis on quantitative research in urban environments
Experience with the development of data and geodatabase systems and/or cloud database structures
Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection, cleaning, transformation, management, and analysis
Proficiency with or expertise in quantitative data cleaning, analysis, and visualization tools  (MS Excel, Numbers, SAS, Stata, SPSS, R, SQL, Python)
Proficiency with geospatial analysis/visualization tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, CartoCSS, TileMill) 
Excellent report writing, editing, and proofreading skills

The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), the metropolitan planning organization and association of city and county governments serving the bi-state Kansas City region, is seeking a Travel Modeler to support MARC’s transportation modeling capabilities. This is a professional position that will support implementation and maintenance of the regional transportation models. The Travel Modeler will be part of a team that helps estimate, calibrate, validate, and apply multimodal travel demand models to help MARC expand its technical capabilities relating to air quality conformity, integration of transportation and land use planning, and transit planning. The position requires an individual with interest and flair for data analysis and management, strong attention to detail and an aptitude for using graphics and visual communication methods to summarize and convey technical results. The position also requires a collaborative team perspective and an ability to work with and within diverse groups. The following represents the essential functions of this position. This position requires a master’s degree in transportation planning, regional planning, geography, or closely related field and at least two years of related work experience. This position requires an individual with competence in technical transit/transportation planning and analysis methods, as well as above average computer skills. Experience with transportation modeling, spreadsheet, database and GIS software is required. Experience with transportation modeling software, such as EMME, and emissions modeling software, such as MOVES, is preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. Applicants should have a working familiarity with metropolitan planning under current federal transportation and air pollution requirements.
