Associate
The Delta Institute is seeking qualified applicants to fill an Associate position to assist with research, data analysis, GIS mapping, and program implementation. This position will support Delta’s core program areas including: agriculture, climate change, purchasing, sustainability planning, green building, water, waste, and workforce development. The Delta Institute is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization with the mission of transforming the Great Lakes to the green economy. The position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Assisting with research, data analysis and GIS mapping in Delta’s core program areas. Providing support on LEED projects with green product and technology research, building data collection and quantification, and documentation submittal. Research and review of data contained in industry and scientific reports, material safety data sheets, and vendor specifications for green business projects - knowledge of electronic waste a plus. Identifying and developing new projects; work with Delta Institute staff to raise funds and obtain other resources for project implementation.
The successful candidate will have a degree in the field of environmental science, engineering, natural resource management, or a related field. Masters degree preferred, but not required. One to three years of work experience in the environmental or sustainability fields is preferred. The candidate should be detail oriented, possess good organizational skills, be a self starter, motivated and enjoy working in a team environment. Candidate should also have superior project planning and time management skills. The candidate should be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, ArcGIS, and have the ability to learn new programs. Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of LEED or LEED accreditation a plus. The candidate should also exhibit the core competencies that are important to Delta. These include teamwork, initiative, reliability and creativity.
Position to begin on or about September 15, 2010. Salary commensurate with experience.
