INTERNSHIP - Active Transit Alliance

Put some real experience on your resume. North America’s premier transportation advocacy non-profit, the Active Transportation Alliance, is seeking part-time intern assistance from students who are interested in careers in transportation and land use planning. Class credit and a small stipend may be available to qualified interns who can commit to 15+ hours per week for semester-long internships. Work will include conducting research, fieldwork, map making, preparing case studies, drafting documents, creating presentation materials (ppt, maps, graphics, etc.) and collecting/analyzing data. Qualified candidates will have prior experience in research, writing, and data analysis. Candidates should be currently enrolled in a master’s degree program for planning, or a related field. Candidates must have interest in non-profit work as well as bicycling, mass transit, and pedestrian issues. Interest in systems planning, transit-oriented development, urban design, and green infrastructure is also a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ArcGIS is required and familiarity with Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop is desirable. This 16-week internship is onsite at our office in downtown Chicago for the fall semester of 2011.
