Paid Internship Fall 2011 through Winter 2012

Founded in 1988, IFF is a nonprofit lender and real estate consultant dedicated to strengthening

nonprofits and the communities they serve. With assets over $200 million, IFF is able to help nonprofits finance, plan, and build facilities that are critical to their mission and success. We work with nonprofits in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin, with a focus on those that serve low-income communities and special needs populations.

IFF recently received funding for a program called Health Care for Healthy Communities. This program will offer design, construction and finance for community health centers through IFF’s five state region, for projects between $5 million and $25 million. Over the next three to five years, through this program IFF plans to construct at least ten new community health centers in low-income communities that will reflect state of the art design in the health care industry. We are seeking a graduate policy student intern for the fall to assist with gathering and analyzing data and information related to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and other related areas.

The intern will complete the following work:

  • Develop a template for collection of vital information on potential FQHC clients in IFF’s five state region.
  • Conduct research on FQHCs--history, board, volume, grant awards and applications, and business services.
  • Analyze communities on access points, demographics and key political factors.
  • Develop metrics for health center facilities around square footage, volume, insurance class, expenses and revenue.

The internship requires 15 to 20 hours of work per week from October 2011 through March 2012, possibly longer. Experience and interest in health care policy and finance preferred, GIS and data analysis experience required.
