Information Technology Support Associate - Desktop Support

The Academic Computing and Communications Center (ACCC) at University of Illinois at Chicago seeks a self-motivated, responsible professional as an Information Technology Support Associate - Desktop Support. The position will encompass client hardware and application support for the Office of the Chancellor. The candidate must have excellent customer service skills, good technical skills; possess the ability to communicate well even with non-technical users and a strong desire to stay up to date with technology. Candidates must have good writing skills, be very organized, possess the ability to handle multiple priorities concurrently, demonstrate the ability to work with different groups to coordinate tasks, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Problem solving skills, working knowledge of client side technology using Active Directory Group Policy, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), the ability to train others on computer related matters, and previous work experience supporting executive level clients is strongly preferred.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

1. Any combination totaling one year from the following categories:
a) Progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession
b) College course work which included Information Technology (IT), or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
● 60 semester hours or Associate’s Degree equals one year

2. Experience with MS-Outlook, MS-Office, Active Directory Group Policy, Smartphone configuration and support, Windows 7, Vista, and Windows XP client software.

Preferred qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree

2. Two (2) additional years of progressively more responsible work experience in IT-related profession

3. Experience with SCCM and Mac OSX client software
