UIC School of Continuing Studies Director of Finance and Administration

The largest university in the Chicago area with over 26,000 students and

leading research university can offer. UIC's School of Continuing Studies
was created in 2007 to support a wide array of programming for
nontraditional audiences including credit and noncredit courses and
workshops, certificates and degree programs, and intensive and customized
ESL instruction--in online, face-to-face and blended formats--and to further
UIC's mission of access to excellence by collaborating with UIC's colleges,
centers and institutes to respond to emerging educational needs of adult and
professional audiences. The SCS comprises the offices of Continuing
Education, External Education, the Tutorium in Intensive English, Summer
Session and UIC Online.

The SCS Director of Finance and Administration will provide leadership in
managing all finance and related resources of the School and its constituent
units to ensure maximum efficiency of their use in support of the School's
activities, and compliance with all campus and University policies and
requirements. This newly established position will integrate SCS budget and
operations staff into a centralized team that will support all SCS financial
and business operations. The Director will participate actively in
analyzing, assessing and planning for new programming opportunities, and in
strategic and long-term planning for the School in general. The SCS Director
of Finance and Administration reports to the Executive Director of the
School and is supported by the Associate Director for Administration. The
Director works closely with the Executive Director and members of the
School's management team to develop strategic financial plans at both the
program and School levels.

The ideal candidate for this position is a highly self-motivated strategic
thinker with at least six years of comprehensive finance and administrative
experience in a business, higher education or nonprofit environment with
strong emphasis on financial planning and management. The candidate must
have excellent communication skills. His/her work experience must
demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory skills, excellent analytical
problem solving and decision making skills and the ability to work
effectively in a complex, active, evolving environment. Significant
experience in budgeting, financial analysis, strategic financial planning,
knowledge of accounting principles and statistical approaches for analysis
and forecasting are required. BA degree in business administration or
related field required. Master's degree in business administration or
related field preferred.
