Job Description
The School of Public, Nonprofit & Health Administration at Grand Valley State University invites applicants for a tenure track assistant professor position beginning August 2011. Applicants are required to have earned a doctorate from an accredited institution by August 2011 in public administration, political science, public policy or a related discipline. Full consideration also will be given to those who are ABD, but they will be hired at instructor level until the doctoral degree is completed. The selected candidate should be prepared to teach primarily undergraduate public management courses. There is also potential for teaching graduate students in the candidate's field of specialization, which is open. The successful candidate must bring a demonstrable potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, evidence of scholarship, and enthusiasm for community-based service. The candidate should have active research and service agendas.
Based in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, the 13 member SPNHA faculty serves 160 students in a public and nonprofit undergraduate program and over 200 students in a NASPAA accredited MPA program with concentrations in public management, urban and regional policy and planning, nonprofit management and leadership, health care administration, and criminal justice. Other SPNHA offerings include a Master's in Health Administration, a graduate certificate in nonprofit administration, undergraduate minors in both public administration and nonprofit management and American Humanics certification.
