Job Description
The Colorado Health Foundation, whose mission is to make Colorado the healthiest state in the nation, is seeking a Research Officer. The Research Officer will play an integral role in conducting research for the Colorado Health Foundation, and will be responsible for developing and advancing the organization's research agenda. The Research Officer will support the research needs of the organization, including philanthropy, public policy, communications and graduate medical education, provide research and analysis of important issues and effective solutions, and identify best practices and how they might be replicated in support of the Foundation's mission. This position will report to the Director of Evaluation.

Responsibilities:

* Support the program officers in their research needs as part of their due diligence (e.g., for new or ongoing initiatives), along with the research needs of other functions in the organization, including policy, communications, evaluation and graduate medical education;
* Develop a shared set of meaningful data points, evidence-based information, and research summaries germane to the work of the Foundation, for internal and external uses, putting content into an end-user-friendly format;
* Research and develop a deeper understanding of problems and effective solutions, including best-use-of-data strategies;
* Assess quality of research, including ratings of research and attribution of sources;
* Support Foundation's external presentations and communications, and special projects and initiatives, with meaningful, accessible, accurate and timely research and data;
* Research and write summaries and analyses of local, state, and national health issues;
* Work closely with Program and Communications and Policy staff to ensure coordination in research strategies and data between these areas
* Support program officers and other staff in their efforts to be informed consumers of research including providing trainings and consultations on how research can inform the Foundation's mission


Job Requirements

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in health care administration, public health, public policy, health economics or related field. A graduate degree is highly preferred.
* Must have a minimum of five years experience working in the field of public policy research or related endeavors, and knowledge of Colorado health issues.
* Must have demonstrated an ability to manage complex research projects and to produce high quality analytic work.
* Knowledge of health coverage, reimbursement, integrated care and long-term care and healthy living public policy is desired.
* Demonstrated record as a researcher and policy analyst, and expertise and familiarity with health services research literature related to health and social policy issues is required. Experience as a principal investigator is preferred.
* Demonstrated leadership skills required.
* Must have very strong organizational, research and writing skills, and a demonstrated capacity to collect and analyze data and synthesize technical information for broader audiences
* Must be proficient in project management and developing/managing detailed timelines to focus strategically on completing projects and achieving concrete outcomes.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, receptivity to others' ideas and an established history of engaging in a collaborative approach are mandatory.
* Experience working with public budgets (federal, state or local) is desired.
