Policy Analysis(Tenure Track)

The Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at the IUPUI campus are seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Policy Analysis. Candidates with expertise and research interests in sustainability, environmental policy, energy, transportation systems, and urban affairs are particularly encouraged to apply. Additional areas of expertise are open, but should be compatible with a research program at an urban university. Applicants must present evidence of high quality research and an ambitious research program, an interest in professional service applications, and a strong commitment to high quality teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the work of the Public Policy Institute affiliated with the School. The Institute is a nationally prominent policy research center with significant support from foundations, nonprofits, and state and local governments. Applicants should be interested in working collaboratively with policy makers in sponsored, policy-focused research and willing to work with faculty and professional staff across disciplines. A Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline is required. ABD candidates are welcome to apply, but the degree must be completed prior to the start date of the appointment.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach in both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The anticipated start date is August 2011.

SPEA is a multi-disciplinary; core school of Indiana University, established as a professional school committed to excellence in teaching, research, and civic engagement. SPEA is one of the largest public affairs schools in the United States, and SPEA IUPUI programs in criminal justice and nonprofit management are ranked third in the nation by U.S. News and World Reports. IUPUI is a Research I intensive institution, with over $400 million in external grants and contracts received in 2009-2010. The research portfolio of SPEA IUPUI faculty includes innovative projects with state, local and federal agencies as well as philanthropic foundations. SPEA IUPUI is located in thriving downtown Indianapolis within walking distance of state government buildings, several museums and sports facilities, and numerous restaurants and retail establishments. The city of Indianapolis was recently rated as one of the most affordable urban sites for housing in the country.
