UIC Public Health - Visiting Project Coordinator
The Healthy Youths Program and the Community Outreach Intervention
Projects at the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public
Health is seeking a full-time Visiting Project Coordinator for a
federally-funded study to prevent HIV/AIDS among juvenile offenders.
The study is a randomized controlled trial to evaluate an innovative
and uniquely tailored HIV/AIDS, mental health, and substance use
program designed for 13--17 year old males and females on probation.
Job responsibilities include coordinating relations with juvenile
justice entities and overseeing study implementation, including
project management, participant recruitment and retention, data
collection, and intervention execution. Additional responsibilities
include hiring, training, and supervising staff, implementing
project tasks as needed, conducting research interviews, tracking
participants, facilitating intervention groups, and maintaining
research protocols. Opportunities for professional development
include, but are not limited to, presenting results at scientific
conferences, assisting in grant preparation, and writing manuscripts
for publication.
Ideal candidates should have previous human subjects' research
experience with youth, and an advanced degree in a relevant area,
such as public health, psychology, social work. Individuals with a
bachelor's degree and exceptional research experience will also be
considered. The position requires an interest in juvenile justice,
mental health, and HIV/AIDS prevention, excellent computer and
communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously.
Candidates should also be detail oriented, reliable, and a strong
team player.
Salary range: $45,000-$50,000, commensurate with experience.
