Visiting Safety and Standards Manager
The Council on Teacher Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago seeks a
one half-time Visiting Safety and Standards Manager. The Visiting Safety and
Standards Manager will ensure that the University of Illinois at Chicago and the
Council on Teacher Education are meeting their State of Illinois obligation to
ensure that UIC candidates for educational certificates who conduct fieldwork,
student teaching, and internships in public schools and agencies and graduates who
gain educational certification meet all mandated safety requirements. The Visiting
Safety and Standards Manager will manage the process of checking candidates
backgrounds with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Illinois State Police and the
various registries. In addition, this individual will manage student action plans
and other activities aimed at ensuring that candidates are meeting standards for
educational professionals. The Visiting Safety and Standards Manager is responsible
for advising candidates about these processes, providing professional development to faculty, and exercising discretion and independent judgment.
Qualifications include an earned Bachelors degree (masters degree preferred), at least three years experience in management or coordinator roles, advising, counseling, or legal experience, the demonstrated use of discretion and independent judgment, excellent verbal, written, computer, and administrative skills, understanding of and ability to carry out confidential procedures, and the maturity to be responsive to candidates, faculty, and other program personnel. Knowledge of UICs Banner System, knowledge of educational certification programs, and experience working with university faculty preferred.
