Job Description
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke Department of Public Administration invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning Fall, 2011, with a possible starting date of Spring, 2011 if preferred. We are currently filling one position at the Assistant level, and may receive authorization for an additional position. The Department is responsible for a sizeable MPA program offered in three formats: an on-campus program, a satellite program, and an extensive on-line program. The person selected for this position will be expected to teach in each of these formats, and may also entail occasional teaching in the university's undergraduate program in public administration.

The Department has teaching needs in multiple areas. Ideal candidates will be able to contribute to the Program’s core courses and provide course coverage in currently unmet needs, such as non-profit management, public policy, financial management, or other subfields leading to expansion of our concentration offerings. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in public administration or political science with significant work in public administration or policy; applicants who are ABD with substantial progress may also be considered. Applicants should clearly indicate in their cover letters specific teaching preferences relative to our needs, and indicate their willingness to participate in on-line education, including discussion of any on-line teaching experiences. Cover letters should also discuss research agendas and current projects; ABD applicants should also discuss their timetable for completion. In addition to the cover letter, applicants should submit a curriculum vita, three letters of recommendation, course syllabi for recently taught courses, writing samples and copies of all graduate transcripts. Applicants should be prepared to submit course evaluations upon short notice when requested, if not included in the application file. We will begin reviewing files October 30, 2010, and continue reviewing until we fill the position. Send all materials to: Chair, Search Committee, Department of Public Administration, University of North Carolina – Pembroke, P. O. Box 1510, Pembroke, NC 28372. Applicants are encouraged to utilize the UNCP online employment application system, found at https://jobs.uncp.edu/. UNC-Pembroke is an EO/AA employer.
