The Director Development: Major Gifts has primary responsibilities to partner with the Associate Dean for Advancement and other College based development officers in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and leadership annual gift donors/prospects (both individual and organizational) in support of the educational and research mission of the College. Major gift prospects are defined as those individuals who have the capacity for mid-five figure range gifts and higher. The Director of Development will maintain a prospect portfolio of 75-100 individuals being actively cultivated and solicited and regularly interact with development colleagues on strategies and "next steps" for building these relationships. The Director will implement cultivation and solicitation plans for assigned prospects as well as identify additional prospects on an ongoing basis. This person will be an important part of the development team's effort to complete the University's "Brilliant Futures" capital campaign for which the College's goal is $62 million. Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Three to five years required in securing major gifts in a not-for-profit setting, preferably in higher education. A thorough knowledge of planned and deferred giving is preferred. Excellence in communications, relationship building, integrity, and the ability to work with diverse constituencies is critical. The Associate Director of Development: Communication is responsible for the coordination and management of messaging and marketing related to fundraising and activities/events intended to cultivate and solicit friends and donors on behalf of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS). This position also provides communication expertise to the Office of Advancement's stewardship program which addresses our responsibility to honor and protect the resources, both personal and financial, that donors and volunteers entrust to the University. Responsibilities include the creation and oversight of a plan for advancement communication; management and editing of regular communication and marketing materials; collaboration on giving and communication strategies; assistance in developing annual fund materials; providing counsel to LAS departments and units about development related initiatives; and assisting other University units in coordinating LAS messages. Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Three to five years experience in communication and marketing in complex organization---experience in higher education and not-for-profit setting a plus.
