Job Description

Working for Local Government Services and assigned to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in Oakland, California, the person in this position will be responsible for developing, managing and revising the spending plan referred to as the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) consistent with regional, state and federal regulations, requirements and guidance, and developing transportation investment analyses related to the TIP.

The individual in this position will administer the $11 billion, four-year spending plan for transportation projects within the nine county San Francisco Bay Area. By performing complex funding analyses and creating reports to inform MTC policy decision makers regarding transportation spending. The position also includes updating and revising the spending plan, developing supporting documentation, demonstrating financial constraints and ensuring adherence to the public participation process. The position will work closely with MTC staff and other agencies in developing various transportation funding programs and overseeing continuous improvements to the fund-management database system that contains the spending plan.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree from an accredited college or university, in an appropriate discipline such as: Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, Economics, Financial Management, Business or Public Administration, Information Sciences, Public Policy or a related discipline.

Completion of a minimum of two years of experience in an increasingly responsible position in an appropriate field related to the area of assignment, such as transportation planning, urban planning; project management, engineering, financial management, economics, business or public administration, database management and development, public finance, budgeting, grants management, or a related field. Additional experience is desirable. One year of graduate work in a discipline directly related to the position may substitute for one year of the required experience.
