John A. Knauss Fellowship

Applications are due to the IISG office by February 18, 2011.
The Knauss fellowship provides a unique educational experience to students who have an interest in ocean, costal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. The program matches highly qualified graduate students with "hosts" in the legislative and executive branches of government located in the Washington, D.C. area for a one year paid fellowship.

In a graduate or professional program in a marine or aquatic- related field by the application deadline of the year of application.
Enrolled at a U.S.-accredited institution of higher education in the United States, including U.S. territories.

National Marine Fisheries Service/Sea Grant Fellowship in Population Dynamics

Applications are due to the IISG office by January 21, 2011.Population dynamics is the study of fish populations as affected by fishing mortality, growth, recruitment and natural mortality. Ph.D. candidates interested in the population dynamics of living marine resources and the development and implementation of quantitative methods for assessing their status can receive up to three years of funding.

Coastal Management Fellowship

Proposals are due in the IISG office by January 28, 2011.
The Coastal Management Fellowship was established to provide on-the-job education and training opportunities in coastal resource management and policy for postgraduate students and
to provide project assistance to state coastal zone management programs. The program matches postgraduate students with state coastal zone programs to work on projects proposed by the state and selected by the fellowship sponsor, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coastal Services Center. This two-year opportunity offers a competitive salary, medical benefits, and travel and relocation expense reimbursement.

*Any student who will complete a master's doctoral, or professional degree program in natural resource management or environmental-related studies.

Statement of the applicant's goals with emphasis on what the applicant expects from and can contribute to the fellowship experience (500 words or less)
Two letters of recommendation, including one from the applicant's principal professor. If no principal professor exists, the faculty member who is most familiar with the applicant's academic work may be substituted.
Unofficial copies of all undergraduate and graduate student transcripts.



Great Lakes Commission/Sea Grant Fellowship
Proposals are due in the IISG office by January 31, 2011.
One fellow will work for one year with members of Great Lakes' science policy and information/education communities to advance the environmental quality and sustainable economic development goals of the Great Lakes states. The fellowship is located at the Great Lakes Commission office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
