Green Communities Intern Description
 
The Delta Institute is implementing the Enterprise Green Communities Sustainability Training 
Grant for Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation. The Delta Institute is an approved Green 
Communities Technical Assistance Provider and has extensive experience in implementing 
green building programs for both existing and new construction buildings. The Enterprise Green 
Communities Sustainability Grant will serve the Management and Resident Outreach team of 
the recently completed Bickerdike project Rosa Parks Apartments. Rosa Parks Apartments was 
completed in 2010 and designed with many green building features. The Enterprise Green 
Communities Sustainability Training Grant will focus on the development of outreach exercises 
that will engage residents of Rosa Parks Apartments to the sustainability features of the 
building and their individual units.  
 
About the Internship 
The Delta Institute is seeking a Green Communities Intern to assist with implementation of a Green 
Communities project. The Delta Institute with Bickerdike Redevelopment Corp is implementing the 
Enterprise Green Communities Sustainability Training Grant. Responsibilities include: 
 
• Assist in overall project management 
• Assist in material development  
• Public meeting planning and implementation 
• Provide technical assistance and creativity  

This internship will be unpaid and is part‐time (10 hours/week) starting January 2011 through June 
2011.  This internship would easily serve to provide experience and information for a senior project or 
graduate project.  
 
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills  
• Experience in project management 
• Experience in working with the public and facilitation 
• Interest in affordable housing 
• Interest in green development 
• Ability to maintain project schedule and follow‐through on tasks  
• Desire to work in the non‐profit arena 
 
Required Education and Experience 
• Education level: college seniors, recent graduates, or graduate students 
• Education field: Urban Planning, Public Administration, Architecture or related fields 
• Experience level: Project Management, facilitation of groups, general work experience 
• Technical skills: Microsoft Word; experience with Desktop publishing a plus
