The School of Professional Studies:
CUNY's School of Professional Studies (SPS) offers innovative undergraduate and graduate level courses, certificates and degree programs, including CUNY's first online degree programs. Drawing on CUNY's nationally and internationally renowned faculty and practitioners, SPS offers programs in a wide range of disciplines, including Masters programs in Applied Theatre, Labor Studies and Disability Studies.
The Policies and Procedures Writer supports a learning and development program for employees of the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE). OCSE is responsible for helping parents living with their children obtain financial support from noncustodial parents. The goal of the learning program is to ensure that OCSE’s 800+ staff and vendors are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to carry out this mission.
The Policies and Procedures Writer will be responsible for working with OCSE staff on the creation of new policy and procedure content, rewriting existing content into a new format, and the on-going maintenance of these documents. The Writer shall conduct training sessions on writing procedures for OCSE staff, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Procedures Manager, the Policies and Procedures Writer will:
• Work with various OCSE operational areas to determine current standard practices and create comprehensive procedure documents detailing these practices.
• Assess existing policy and procedure documentation and make recommendations for improvement.
• Reformat/rewrite existing business policy, standards, and procedure content into a newly developed structured format. Apply agency-wide editorial standards to all documents.
• Conduct research (as needed) to incorporate new corporate standards, changes in policy, new laws/regulations, etc.
• Work closely with curriculum developers to ensure that policies and procedures are properly and fully integrated into training materials developed for OCSE staff.
• Troubleshoot issues with content development by communicating with the client and subject matter experts.
• Develop an understanding of the overall scope of the assignment, by using flowcharting tools.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum requirements for the position:
Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of two (2) years full-time experience directly related to technical writing.
Ability to define and document business processes.
Strong writing skills needed to produce clear and concise materials.
Excellent oral and written communication skills needed to foster productive relationships with diverse staff and constituencies.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding, and complex work environment, with the ability to carry out complex assignments and adapt to changing situations and
priorities.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Strong computer skills necessary.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles, legal terminology, process mapping, and/or human services programs, and child support enforcement in particular, a plus.
Salary: $50,000 - $70,000
