Part-time Project Coordinator - Asian Health Coalition

Agency Description:
The Asian Health Coalition (AHC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in Illinois through health education, advocacy, technical assistance, and community-based research. AHC has an opening for a part-time coordinator position for one of its community outreach programs.

Community Outreach Programs:

AHC collaborates with multiple CBOs to provide capacity building and promote institutional change targeting health conditions that disproportionately affect Asian Americans. With eight active programs focused on prevention, education, and advocacy, AHC partners with 25 Asian community-based organizations to build the capacity to reduce health disparities and improve the health status of Chicago’s Asian communities. The community health programs are in the areas of women’s health, diabetes and obesity prevention, viral hepatitis, HIV-AIDS, and substance abuse prevention and linkage to care.

Position:

The part-time Project Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Programs, will be responsible for all activities associated with specific programmatic outreach to Asian American populations in Chicago and Cook County.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Director of Programs to plan, implement, and evaluate a community intervention targeting Asian Americans in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. The program involves partnerships with community-based organizations providing social services to Asian American communities, including immigrant and refugee populations.


Minimum Qualifications:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Master’s degree in public health, social work, nutrition, or other health related field

· Proficient in basic computer programs

· Work well independently and as part of a team

· Able to work an average 15 hours per week

· Able to commit to a minimum of 6 months


Highly Preferred:

· Currently enrolled in doctoral level studies

· Bilingual in an Asian language and familiarity working with minority populations
