JOB DESCRIPTION
DIRECTOR OF NEIGHBORHOOD REINVESTMENT
Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA) is a not-for-profit housing development and technical assistance organization working in the northwest side of Chicago. It develops decent and affordable housing for Latino and other residents of Westtown, Humboldt Park, Logan Square and Hermosa. The organization model reflects a community-control approach to meeting housing needs and solving the problems of the local residents. LUCHA is a HUD certified housing counseling agency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop lending and foreclosure prevention programs with lending institutions and government agencies. Define program targets, strategies, timelines and delivery schedules, policy procedures, staffing and marketing.
3. Supervise lending and foreclosure prevention specialists’ implementation of outreach and education programs, and assure that they meet program goals and objectives.
4. Participate in meeting with foundations and government agencies and other funding sources to explain the neighborhood’s needs and LUCHA’s programs to attract and retain resources for program operation.
6. Work with lending institutions and government agencies to identify and overcome obstacles to sustainable mortgage/housing lending in low income communities. Research strategies use by other lending programs to overcome obstacles and find opportunities to modify and adapt them to local communities.
7. Utilize mortgage disclosure data and other research to monitor the activities of lending institutions in the target communities.
8. Represent LUCHA in city and statewide forum and coalition to share information and seek opportunities to enhance programs and advocate for systemic change.
Requirements: Six years of program supervisory and counseling experience. Counseling certification by HUD, NeighborWorks or other training institution. Excellent oral and written communication. Bilingual (Spanish & English) written and oral. Residents of the target neighborhoods are encouraged to apply.
HOURS: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and with planned activities on evenings and weekends.
SALARY: $50,000 to $60,000 depending on qualifications.
