Assistant/Associate Professor, Public Administration
The Division of Management, Marketing, and Public Administration in the College of Business and Public Administration at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, seeks applications for two full-time, tenure-track faculty positions in Public Administration at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning as early as January 2012. The successful candidates will be academically qualified to teach mostly graduate courses in a NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, with par-ticular expertise in two or more of the following areas: Public policy analysis, public finance, public budget-ing, research methods, urban planning, urban administration, and/or human resources. The MPA program enrolls approximately 160 students, most of whom are mid-career professionals, and is delivered at vari-ous off-campus satellite locations, including one in downtown Chicago, as well as on the main campus. We seek candidates with outstanding teaching skills, interest in advising non-traditional or diverse student populations, evidence of a potential or distinguished record of scholarship consistent with tenure-track ex-pectations, and substantive professional service via projects, committees or other leadership roles.
Minimum Qualifications: 1) Ph.D. in Public Administration or other relevant discipline; 2) Documented record of teaching experience in Public Administration at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels; and 3) Documented record of an ability to make intellectual contributions through scholarly publica-tions/presentations.
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Professional or managerial experience in the field is highly desirable; 2) Teaching and/or professional experience in multiple public sector subject areas; and 3) Interest in and ability to develop and teach online (web-based) courses.
