The Department of Pharmacology is seeking a Visiting Director of Program Development to closely assist the Dept. Head and provide high level management support to enable writing of NIH funded training and research grants in areas such as vascular biology and pathobiology, preparation of tables of the qualifications of training faculty mentors and trainees, assistance to the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training programs including selection of trainees for the program, program development and post program placement. Additional responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, overseeing the department’s graduate program (GEMS), in coordination with the Director of Graduate studies, including course development and revitalization, preparing grant progress reports under the Head’s direction, as well as scientific program administration, including human subject, animal and hazardous material protocols, grants.gov submission.
Masters degree required with at least 5 years experience in related administration in an academic institution is required, as well as working knowledge of grants, extramural funding and NIH. Excellent oral and written communication skills, a high degree of organizational skills, and the ability to work in a large, fast-paced, team-oriented environment are a must.
