Job Description
ACT, Inc. is inviting educational researchers to apply for the position of Research Associate, Policy Research. This position will be located at our national headquarters office in Iowa City, IA.
ACT is a not-for-profit, nationally recognized leader in educational assessment, research, and information services. Each year, ACT serves millions of people in elementary and secondary schools, colleges, professional associations, and government agencies. ACT programs and services have one guiding purpose: helping people achieve education and workplace success.
Under the direction of senior staff, the Research Associate will conduct and report on education policy research. Typical work-related activities include:
* Conduct, interpret, and report the results of educational policy research.
* Provide support to internal and external clients.
* Apply knowledge and skills in research methodology and educational policy.
* Assist in developing goals, objectives, and strategic plans.
* Develop a program of research, publication, and presentations at professional conferences on issues affecting ACT's business.
* Maintain quality and security control on all projects.
* Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions regarding departmental projects.
* Communicate effectively and efficiently with other staff members and with ACT clients.
* Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding corporate information.
Job Requirements
Qualified candidates must have a graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in educational research or related content area. Requires demonstrated competence in education policy research, knowledge of research methodology, and proficiency with computer software programs, including statistical software. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively convey technical materials to a non-technical audience. Also requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in teams. Finalist(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment criminal background check as a condition of employment.
