International Opportunities in Public Administration with NGOabroad
1. Learn to Lead by Laughing: Costa Rica
This director is one of the funniest & warmest directors that I have ever met.
Needless to say, she has a strong & happy team. I believe there is much to be
learned from her.
2. Interface between Grassroots & International Orgs: Bolivia
Our director in Bolivia worked for 6 years with international non-profits so has infused his grasp of needs assessments, "project cycles" & monitoring & evaluation into his indigenous organization.
Thus this is a great place to learn how international development works.
Teach director English & he will teach you Quechua!
3. Interface between For-Profit & Non-Profit: Ecuador
This org has a beautiful spa & resort to support their community development projects in the surrounding villages. They request help in writing business plans & getting loans; web construction & SEO; ecotourism & sustainability; income generation or economic projects.
4. Program Management & Program Development: Gulu
Gulu suffered a devastating war. "The Lord's Resistance Army" would abduct boys to become child soldiers and rape the girls and infect them with AIDS. Gulu is recovering now. Our director in Gulu is an MBA by training. She welcomes people with an expertise in organizational development who can help with project and program management.
5. Fund-raising and Grant Writing
Directors in Kenya, Ghana & Gulu have all asked for help with raising program funds.
