Job Description
Manager of Evaluation
The National Campaign seeks a qualified individual to undertake and manage evaluation activities on a wide variety of Campaign efforts and projects. The Evaluation Manager will help support the Campaign's strong commitment to ensuring that our efforts are grounded in performance data and in assessments of our impact and effectiveness.
The Evaluation Manager will undertake numerous activities to better understand whether our efforts make a difference. This will typically include both process and outcome measurement, and basic measures of change based on pre-post or matched-group comparisons, rather than more rigorous experimental designs. Responsibilities of the Evaluation Manger will include:
Evaluating the technical assistance we will be providing to a set of state and local grantees under a new CDC-funded project promoting community-based initiatives to prevent teen pregnancy;
Providing oversight of Campaign evaluation efforts undertaken by contractors in the field;
Working with senior staff to set up systems/processes at the Campaign itself to track a new set of outcome goals and metrics, and then both collecting and analyzing the data;
Working with staff to collect process data that help inform management decisions;
Helping to guide and manage other evaluation efforts at the Campaign as needed; and
Contributing to the efforts of the Research Department more broadly, including the analysis of data and presentation of results.
This individual will report to the Senior Director of Research, and support other program activities as needed.
Job Requirements
The Manager of Evaluation must have a Master's degree in a social science or public health discipline that included methodological and statistical training. The Manager must also have at least three years experience designing program evaluations and/or assessing evaluation design, and must be functional in a data analysis program such as SPSS or STATA. Experience working in the field of teen pregnancy prevention and working with community-level programs are both a plus. He/she must be able to work independently and as part of a team; manage multiple projects simultaneously; meet deadlines; possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills; have a keen eye for detail; have excellent written and oral communications skills; solve problems independently and creatively; and work effectively on long-term as well as short-term projects.
