ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Works under the direction of assigned manager to assist in the updating, amending, and implementation of the comprehensive plan for the City of Memphis. Contributes to development of recommendations related to land use, transportation, public facilities, housing, economic growth and development, neighborhood stabilization, quality of life, civic engagement, and budget impact. Develops plans and studies for communities, districts, or city systems. Reviews land use proposals for plan consistency, prepares reports, and correspondence to support findings. Collects data and information and provides qualitative and quantitative research and analysis. Drafts summaries, test content, technical reports, and memos of research findings. Compiles findings for internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates with other city divisions and external stakeholders to gain input and support relevant to the comprehensive plan. Compiles community feedback and updates planning documents. Shares updated information and summaries to community groups and other stakeholders. Drives to various worksites to attend meetings and to conduct site visits.

Associate Analyst/Modeler - CMAP (closes 3/25)

Who: The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is our region’s official comprehensive planning organization. The agency and its partners are implementing ON TO 2050, a new long-range comprehensive regional plan, to help the seven counties and 284 communities of northeastern Illinois address transportation, housing, economic development, open space, environmental, and other quality-of-life issues.

What: The Associate Analyst / Modeler will focus on the collection, preparation and analysis of data necessary to support CMAP’s modeling tools, including model calibration and validation activities. Tasks will also include conducting travel demand model runs to support the longrange plan, the Transportation Improvement Program, individual transportation project studies and to satisfy federal Air Quality Conformity requirements. This position will help support the guiding principles of ON TO 2050 by assisting in efforts to improve the responsiveness of the agency’s modeling tools to answer policy questions related to inclusive growth, resilience and prioritized investment through the development of new methodologies and performance metrics. This position will also support the continued development and implementation of CMAP’s activity-based and freight forecasting models.

In addition, assignments will be given that contribute to CMAP’s capacity to respond to regular requests for data and information by staff and regional planning partners. These include data preparation and analysis tasks that support capital programming, policy development and local technical assistance projects. These and other projects assigned are critical to maintaining the quality and integrity of CMAP planning datasets.

Senior Data Scientist - Cook County Assessor

Who: The Assessor's Office is responsible for setting fair and accurate values for 1.8 million parcels of Cook County property. The value of these properties is not determined on an individual basis, but rather by a mass appraisal system. The mass appraisal system is a way to put fairness into the entire assessment process. In addition to working with other government agencies to stimulate economic development, job creation and the construction of affordable housing, we also seek to help county residents better understand the assessment process and take advantage of money-saving exemptions the office provides.

What: Reporting directly to the Deputy Assessor - Chief Data Officer (CDO), the Senior Data Scientist is responsible for advanced mathematical and statistical concepts and theories to analyze and collect data and construct solutions to problems in assessment methodologies for residential real estate. Performs complex statistical analysis on assessment data of residential real estate to validate and quantify trends or patterns identified by junior data scientists and modelers. The Senior Data Scientist constructs predictive models, algorithms and probability engines to support data analysis; verifies model and algorithm effectiveness based on real-world results. Designs experiments and methodologies to generate and collect data for use in the valuation and assessment processes. The Senior Data Scientist participates in the policy-making process by producing data-informed policy recommendations and prescriptive analytics. The Senior Data Scientist supervises and manages the workflow of direct reports, identifies and resolves issues or bugs with processes and scripts, identifies opportunities to improve processes and scripts, identifies potential new sources of low-cost data, and otherwise supports the CDO, as needed.

Transportation Planner - Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission

Who: The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission has an immediate opening for a entry level engineer or planner with an interest in transportation planning. The Commission conducts area-wide system level highway, transit, and bicycle facilities planning for a seven county Region, and facility and corridor-level traffic engineering and transportation planning for local governments. Current work efforts include transit development plans for public transit operators in the Region; the regional transportation plan and improvement program development; public transit/human services coordination plans; refinement of travel demand models and development of advanced and experimental travel demand models; and traffic engineering studies.
