Auburn University College of Architecture, Design and Construction Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs The College of Architecture, Design and Construction at Auburn University is seeking applications and nominations from accomplished, innovative academic leaders for the position of Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Applicants must have a teaching and scholarly record meriting tenure at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The College of Architecture, Design and Construction at Auburn University, established in 1907, is comprised of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, the McWhorter School of Building Science and the School of Industrial and Graphic Design. 
The College comprises more than 125 faculty and staff and approximately 1450 students pursuing undergraduate degrees in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Building Construction, Environmental Design, Graphic Design and Industrial Design and graduate programs in Building Construction, Landscape Architecture, and Industrial Design, and executive programs in Real Estate Development and Construction Management. Responsibilities: The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for all matters broadly related to undergraduate academic programs. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction, the Associate Dean provides leadership and direction to the College’s instructional mission, is responsible for program assessment, oversees undergraduate study abroad programs, student recruitment, advising and placement, and other assignments as determined by the Dean. This is a 12-month, tenured position. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.
Required qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in one of the current disciplines in the College, or a related discipline. 
  • Academic and professional record that merits appointment at rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure 
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving skills 
  • Demonstrated performance in making sound, independent judgments 
  • Positive record of advising and mentoring students 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty, staff, students, and administrators 
  • Record of outstanding written, interpersonal and digital communication skills Desired qualifications 
  • Recognized accomplishments in teaching, scholarship, research and professional practice 
  • Experience with academic administration in a University setting 
  • Experience with international partnerships and initiatives 
  • Experience at obtaining external funding 
  • Experience with assessment and specialized accreditation protocols

The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at Auburn University, a comprehensive land-grant and research institution, seeks a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor for an appointment in the Master of Landscape Architecture program commencing August 2016.
The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (APLA) at Auburn University at Auburn has a 100 year history of educating architects, interior architects, landscape architects and planners; and of contributing to the region and the profession through outreach, scholarship and creative work. The School has four allied degree programs: Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Interior Architecture, Master of Landscape Architecture, and Master of Community Planning. APLA resides in the College of Architecture Design and Construction along with the departments of Building Science and Industrial Design.
The Auburn Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) is an accredited two year, six semester program. It is a research-informed, design-lead program dedicated to opening up new spaces of critical landscape discourse and practice. The program educates students in the generation of resilient cultural and social practices through the cultivation of adaptive urban and environmental design strategies.
Responsibilities of the appointment include teaching, research and/or outreach at a graduate level. The successful candidate will be required to maintain an active scholarly program disseminated through appropriate disciplinary, peer-reviewed venues; and funding is available to support these activities. Successful applicants will teach studios and courses in one or more of the following topic areas: history and theory of landscape architecture and contemporary issues in landscape architecture. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Candidates must have a Master of Landscape Architecture degree, or a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture plus a terminal degree in a related field. Preferred qualifications include: evidence of outstanding design skills, experience in professional practice and teaching, professional registration, and advanced degrees in Landscape Architecture, or related design or planning fields. The successful candidate will be a creative designer whose work is grounded in the problems of contemporary practice, and investigates current issues through techniques that can be translated to the graduate studio setting.
