The Baltimore City Planning Department has vacancies in FOUR Planner II positions, including Land Use, Comprehensive Planning, Sustainability, and Research & Strategic Planning. We are looking for a self-starter willing to take on exciting new initiatives including developing a Green Network methodology for repurposing vacant sites suitable for stormwater treatments, urban farms, recreational assets, and more; assist in a Comprehensive Plan evaluation; and coordinate and develop department communication deliverables.

The Baltimore City Department of Planning (DoP) is seeking qualified individuals to fill one vacancy in each of our Sustainability Division, Comprehensive Planning Division, Land Use and Urban Design Division and Research and Strategic Planning Division as follows:
The Comprehensive Planning Division is looking for a qualified individual to serve as an INSPIRE planner working closely with community stakeholders on neighborhood planning to leverage investment in the 21stCentury Schools Initiative. The DoP is conducting a planning program for the neighborhoods around each of the new or renovated schools as part of the 21st Century Schools. The program is called INSPIRE, which stands for Investing in Neighborhoods and Schools to Promote Improvement, Revitalization, and Excellence. The key responsibilities for the INSPIRE planner are:
Lead or assist with INSPIRE plans, including managing community process, data analysis, strategy and recommendation development, agency coordination, document preparation, implementation, etc., as
Help develop and implement overall INSPIRE program, including planning process, planning document, planning and implementation partnerships, etc.
Provide planning updates and information to elected officials, other agencies, community associations, and general public, including potential investors, non-profits and grant reading.
Recommend and review projects for inclusion in the City’s Capital Improvement Program. Engage with agencies on implementation of key projects.
The Sustainability Division is looking for a qualified individual to manage the City’s Critical Area Management Program and participate in projects and initiatives related to water quality, wildlife habitat, and coastal restoration and protection. The key responsibilities are:
Serve as the City’s Critical Area Management Program (CAMP) coordinator to oversee the enforcement of the City’s CAMP regulations. Provide required reports to the Critical Area Commission and coordinate updates to the City’s mapping, zoning, and CAMP manual.
Review public and private development projects proposed within the Critical Area, and coordinate with City agencies, state agencies, developers, and property owners to ensure that development is in accordance with the CAMP. Coordinate with the Critical Area Commission, City staff, and stakeholders.
Oversee the collection and spending of Critical Area mitigation funds, including managing the annual
Represent the Department on projects and issues related to water quality, trash, stormwater management,
Work with developers, State and Federal agencies regarding coastal environmental restoration, estuary improvements and wetlands restoration.
Represent the City of Baltimore in studies of coastal floodplain assessment and flood protection issues
ssociated with Climate Change and coastal redevelopment.
Oversee the Department’s Coastal and Waterway Systems Planning and restoration of program.
