The Senior Transportation Planner is a newly created position with the Planning & Community Environment – Transportation Division. The immediately position focus will be to develop guidelines and processes for the review and approval of transportation impact studies for private sector and capital improvement program projects. The position will oversee standardization of traffic data collection and develop tools to help disseminate information to the public to help increase transparency regarding local and regional traffic growth including trends in bicycle, pedestrian, and transit use. Innovations that the Senior Transportation Planner will be responsible or participate in include Transportation Demand Management toolkits for private sector partners, participation in the active Transportation Management Association (TMA) for the Downtown core, and the promotion of trending transportation elements including app-base ridesharing and car sharing tools. The Senior Transportation Planner will function within the Transportation Division and report to the Chief Transportation Official.
