The City of Garland, TX, (233,206) a prominent Dallas metropolitan area community, seeks a progressive leader to serve as its next Planning and Community Development Director.  The successful candidate will lead a department with an authorized staff of 12 and a FY 2015 budget of $1.5 Million.  Responsible for directing the City’s Planning and Community Development Department functions and recognized as the principal planning and development expert in the organization.
Significant experience in comprehensive planning, neighborhood and small area planning, the development process, redevelopment, and uniform development code implementation are critical.  The Position reports to a Senior Managing Director. 
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, urban planning or related field and 10 years related professional planning experience, including 5 years in a management role.  A Master’s Degree in urban planning or related field, American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification and experience in excess of 10 years, including urban planning experience in a municipal environment, are preferred.
Starting salary; $125,000+/- DOQE.  Excellent benefits package.
