The City of Irvine seeks a professional and seasoned individual for a Senior Planner vacancy. The Senior Planner is expected to perform complex planning tasks for assigned projects with minimal supervision and provide competent advice to City policy makers, management and the general public regarding planning matters and will lead, advise, and train subordinate staff or consultants. The position will require a high degree of planning knowledge and experience, the ability to work well independently and on project teams, and the ability to identify potential problems and recommend viable options and solutions. Areas of activity may include case processing, project entitlement, park planning, general planning, transportation, housing, economic development, or other related areas.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning or Engineering, Geography, Architecture, Economics, Public Administration or related field with five years professional planning experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Candidates who possess a Master's degree in planning, AICP certification and/or experience working in a government agency will be considered favorably.
