The City of Montebello is seeking an Associate Planner to organize, coordinate, and monitor an assigned area of the City's urban planning activities; to perform a variety of journey level professional urban planning, advanced planning, community development, and environmental analysis administrative work.  The ideal candidate would bring with him/her
  •  Customer satisfaction oriented.
  • Knowledge and experience with CEQA.
  • Experience with current and advanced planning projects.
  • Strong customer interaction skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Understand the importance in presenting yourself in a professional demeanor to both external and internal associates.
  • Strong professional ethics.
  • Effective time management.
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:  Graduation from an accredited "four" year college or university with major course work in urban planning, geography, environmental studies, or a closely related field.  Membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners highly desirable.  A Master's degree in planning or a closely related field is highly desirable.
Work Background:  Three years of progressively responsible and varied professional planning work, preferably including supervisory experience.
