AKS Engineering & Forestry is seeking an entry level Assistant Planner for our Tualatin, Oregon office. This is a full time position reporting to the Principal Land Use Planner and working closely with other company Project Managers. This position will provide support to the land use planning team. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Perform timely and accurate property, zoning, and utility research by way of internet/GIS investigation and through telephone/in-person inquiries. 
2. Research complex issues affecting property, transportation networks, utility infrastructure, etc. to respond to client inquiries.
3. Prepare, organize, and coordinate with project team members and jurisdiction staff and submit required materials to schedule pre-application conferences. 
4. Set up, organize, and attend neighborhood meetings, including coordination of mailings, signage, scheduling, and support materials.  
5. Effectively and efficiently coordinate with in-house engineering, surveying, and landscape architectural co-workers, permitting agency staff, other team members. 
6. Prepare, format, and edit, application forms and other materials for land use permit applications covering a diverse range of projects. 
7. Create, organize, and maintain project schedules. 8. Develop and maintain effective positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, permitting agency staff, and other project team members. 
9. Do what needs to be done.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: 
1. Desire to work in a fast-paced, team/goal oriented environment. 
2. Ability to work quickly, independently and collectively, manage priorities, and meet deadlines. 
3. Ability to take personal responsibility for completing quality work within budgets and timelines. 
4. Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or similar field or equivalent work experience is desirable. 
5. Experience utilizing the internet as a tool to perform property research is desirable. 
6. Excellent written communication skills including letter and report writing is desirable. 
7. The ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, clients, permitting agency staff, and other project team members is necessary. 
8. Skills with word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and scheduling software (Microsoft Office Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Project, Adobe, etc.) are desirable. 
9. AutoCAD/Civil 3D and GIS skills are desirable but not required. 
10. Able to travel, as necessary. Most travel will be in AKS provided vehicles.
