Technical Support Associate, Metra - Chicago

*Technical Support Associate*

*_Summary of Duties_*
Reporting directly to the Department Head, Network Services, provides
technical assistance for Metra's microcomputer end-users and Information
Systems programmer application activities. Installs and maintains
software for microcomputer applications and local area network (LAN)
hardware and software. Coordinates appropriate service personnel to
service other microcomputer needs and problems. Monitors user
applications on Metra's microcomputer networks. Performs role of support
person for troubleshooting and resolving LAN hardware and application
problems. Installs and moves microcomputers, printers and peripherals at
all Metra facilities. Makes recommendations on upgrades and performance
enhancements to network equipment, microcomputer application software
and hardware. Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the
ongoing needs of the organization.

*_Minimum Acceptable Qualifications_*
§Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline OR in lieu
of degree, any combination of computer science or related education and
experience that equals four (4) years.  Computer support experience
preferred.
§Knowledge of installation and support of microcomputer hardware,
application programs, and Windows operating system environments preferred.
§Installation support knowledge of network operating systems with
software applications preferred.
§Knowledge of installing, interconnecting and configuring network
electronics such as network switches or routers preferred.
§Must possess excellent organizational, oral and written communication
skills.
§Must have strong interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of
management, employees, external groups and/or organizations.
§Must possess and maintain a valid driver=s license.
