Community Development Director
City of Pittsfield seeks an individual to fill the position of Community Development Director. This position is a senior municipal department head responsible for 17 person department (plus seasonal employees) with an annual budget of $2-3M. Responsible for City’s planning and land use permitting activities, community development and housing programs, and economic development programs, as well as open space planning and recreation activities. Department is responsible for administration of annual U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlement grant, including management of housing and economic development revolving loan funds and administration of grants to human service agencies. The department supports twelve volunteer boards, commissions, and advisory committees. The successful candidate is expected to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in planning, engineering, public administration or related degree plus 10 years’ experience in the field of land use and planning, community development, or economic development and at least five years in leadership role(s).
