Community Planner II

LIAA is a nonprofit service organization dedicated to building better communities through civic engagement. For nearly two decades, we have helped citizens, civic groups, other nonprofits, and local units of government use advanced information technologies and community development techniques to improve planning and resource management throughout Michigan and elsewhere.
We seek an experienced, highly-creative Community Planner (Level II) with strong leadership and strategic thinking skills. The Community Planner will help LIAA provide the best multi-jurisdictional land use planning and community development services available in Michigan while participating in outreach and development efforts as well as the design, development and dissemination of programs to help people build more sustainable communities.
We provide a reasonable salary (salary range: $36–50K, depending on experience and education), good benefits, great colleagues, a comfortable work environment, and meaningful causes worth working for. All of this in one of the most beautiful locations on earth.
The successful candidate will be a creative and engaging person with several years of experience and truly excellent communication skills. We prefer a person with two or more degrees in relevant areas (e.g., natural sciences; landscape architecture; community development, and/or urban planning), and advanced technology skills. AICP applicants with experience in addressing social equity issues and/or access and transportation issues are preferred.
