HNTB’s Technology Solutions Center serves as our center of excellence for providing information technology solutions to our public agency clients. This focus is on clients nationwide; who are responsible for managing the some of our country’s most critical civil infrastructure. Our Project Office located in Chicago, Illinois is seeking support geospatial solutions needs for a wide range of clients and disciplines. The qualified candidate may be located in either the Chicago Project Office location, or in the Kansas City, Missouri office (HNTB headquarters).

Responsibilities:
  • Compiling, cataloguing and analyzing data – both tabular, in geographic information systems (GIS), or in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) formats
  • Collecting, evaluating GIS data and related databases on a range of projects
  • Incorporating and manipulating data for use in transportation planning, operations, design and maintenance applications
  • Use CAD and GIS data for the purpose of analyzing, conversion or integration into a sustainable client or project solution.
  • Review, recommend and perform related spatial data acquisition or extraction services for LiDAR-based data.
  • Preparing creative maps and illustrations using GIS, graphic design, and other software
  • Developing reports and presenting findings to multiple audiences
  • Queries and analyzes geo-spatial and other database information
  • Interprets and presents results to varying audiences
  • Prepares presentation materials and written documentation
  • Assists in gathering and analyzing user requirements, support geodatabase modeling and design efforts and assist in enterprise GIS user training and support efforts.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Planning or other related field of study required.
  • 5-7 years of experience using ESRI or Bentley geospatial software products required
  • TopoDOT experience is preferred
  • Experience applying GIS principles, design, and production methods - including, but not limited to - assembling or collecting data, performing spatial analysis, and producing maps and graphics is required
  • Adept in the use of GIS and CAD technology, including Esri software (ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS for Server, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Online), Microstation DGN or AutoCAD DWG formats required.
  • Experience in the use of .NET, JavaScript, Python scripting, SQL, HTML or Windows client-based development tools is preferred.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting materials and documentation at meetings required

Environment and Physical Requirements: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally.
