The Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network, a nonprofit environmental
organization based in Racine, Wisconsin is seeking a /*Program
Coordinator*/ to assist with the organization's mission to protect,
restore and sustain the ecosystem of the Root-Pike Watershed.
Root-Pike WIN's work is focused on reducing stormwater pollution and
improving water quality in the Root River, Pike River and near shore
Lake Michigan through outreach and education programs, a small grants
program and watershed planning.
We partner with other organizations and funders to offer a /Greener
Yards, Cleaner Waters/ program targeted to homeowners to inspire them
to take actions in their yards that will reduce runoff pollution. The
program includes a rain garden grant program, how-to workshops and an
e-newsletter. Since our establishment in 2000, we have offered a small
grants program that annually funds restoration, recreation and
education projects that meet our mission. As part of our work with a
municipal stormwater permit group, we are leading the design and
implementation of an advertising campaign, /Respect Our Waters/, that
features media advertising and community events. We are currently
engaged in the development of watershed restoration plans for the Root
River, Pike River and Wind Point watersheds. See our *website

for more information. The program coordinator will report to the
executive director and is responsible for the following job duties:
Implement the /Greener Yards, Cleaner Waters/ program and the /Rain
Garden Initiative/ grant program, with guidance from an advisory
committee, to include securing locations for workshops, developing
communication and education materials to promote the program,
inspecting, approving and monitoring rain gardens funded by the
program, preparing reports for funders, providing workshop
instruction, participating in eco-fairs and updating rain garden pages
on the website..
Coordinate the /Watershed-based Grant Program/, to include outreach to
potential grant applicants, review of applications and submittal of
application packets to grant reviewers, attendance at task group
meetings, schedule and organize annual Resource Group meeting, track
funded projects, and update grants pages on the website.
Assist with watershed planning meetings, to include securing locations
for meetings, taking meeting minutes, arranging for speakers,
preparing handouts, coordinating with planners and others engaged in
the development of the written plans, arranging refreshments for
meetings, and updating meeting and planning information on the website.
The Program Coordinator will:
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships internally and
externally with key stakeholders, including but not limited to
volunteers, homeowners, business owners, municipalities, schools,
and other public entities as well as agency partner.
* Design and implement engaging communications and education materials.
* Coordinate and deliver workshops, presentations and outreach events.
* Conduct successful marketing and social media campaigns.
* Coordinate and implement program activities.
* Assist with development of fundraising plan and grant writing.
Skills and Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate has a four-year undergraduate degree
with experience in public outreach/public relations and program
coordination and excellent writing and graphic design skills.
Proficiency using Microsoft Professional Office Suite, including
MSPublisher or other diesktop publishing software is required.
Essential

Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including
graphic design skills.
Knowledge of and Interest in leading effective community engagement
campaigns.
Flexible, creative, and energetic.
Demonstrated project management experience/a good organizer.
Eagerness to travel throughout the watershed.
Reliable automobile, valid Wisconsin driver's license and good driving
record.
Desirable
Demonstrated experience with direct customer service.
Demonstrated implementation of social media campaigns.
Public speaking background.
This is a fulltime salaried position offering paid sick days, vacation
and holidays and mileage reimbursement at IRS rate. Some flexibility
with work schedule. Workplace is located at 800 Center Street, Racine,
Wisconsin.
