Development Operations Manager
Academy for Urban School Leadership's (AUSL) mission is to improve student achievement in Chicago's high-poverty, chronically failing schools through our disciplined transformation process, built on the foundation of specially trained AUSL teachers.  AUSL manages a growing network of 25 teacher training academies and turnaround schools at both the high school and elementary levels.  A cornerstone of AUSLs model for improvement is its Chicago Teacher Residency program, which recruits and trains up to 200 teachers annually to work in high-need schools.

AUSL seeks a highly qualified candidate with excellent time-management, organization, and interpersonal skills to serve as the Development Operations Manager.  

Position Summary:
The Development Operations Manager plays an important role in supporting development activities to meet annual fundraising goals from a variety of sources.  The Manager is primarily responsible for supporting Development Operations for the External Affairs department.  The ideal candidate has experience in managing donor/prospect databases, possesses analytical skills, is organized and able to multitask.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Raisers Edge is required.  The Manager will report to and work in close partnership with the Director of Development.  

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Development Database Management (Raisers Edge), including gift processing for operating, program, capital gifts and grants.  Manages acknowledgements and drafts/edits personalized acknowledgements.  Duties include the accurate entry of data for donor and prospect records, and the productions of lists and reports. 
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Raisers Edge donor database and records.
  • Coordinate periodic training of development and finance staff on current and new applications of Raisers Edge.
  • Assures integrity of data and records, deleting duplicate records, appropriate coding, etc.  Regularly audits data entry for errors or incorrect codes.
  • Maintains appropriate records of batches, paper files, and other records related to contributions.
  • Serves as the liaison with AUSLs Finance Department to ensure accuracy of gift/donation records and deposits.
  • Responsible for tracking and filing multi-year pledge documentation.
  • Provide support as needed for all fundraising activities, including annual appeal solicitations, cultivation visits, and special events.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:
  • Minimum three years of related experience, with an established record of database management and development operations experience
  • Must be organized, meticulous and pay attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to quality work, customer service and high productivity
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Strong interest in working in education reform and social justice fields
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work individually on projects as well as be a team player
  • Ability to remain flexible and agile in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to be self-motivated and be a strong problem solver
