Director, Campaign and Social Gifts, Latin School of Chicago - Chicago


OrganizationThe Latin School of Chicago, founded in 1888, is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian college preparatory day school serving a diverse community of approximately 1,100 students in junior kindergarten through twelfth grade. Students come from Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. The School was designed to provide students with a rigorous college-preparatory education in the classical tradition. Today, the Latin School seeks to be one of the finest independent schools in the nation and aspires to live as a community that shares responsibilities and that values intellectual integrity, loyalty and service.

PositionIn 2012, Latin began a four-year campaign to substantially increase endowed funds to support scholarships, faculty development and programs that will engage students as active citizens of Chicago and the world. As such, the Director, Campaigns and Special Gifts provides leadership and direction to a comprehensive program to secure significant new and increased restricted support from individuals, family foundations, and selected corporations and professional foundations to advance the mission of the Latin School of Chicago. S/he directly manages a personal portfolio of 150 major and planned gift prospects and works closely with the development team to determine effective strategies to engage a larger pool of identified potential donors with a capability to contribute endowed gifts or gifts of $250,000+ over five years. S/he will advance the campaign by developing and maintaining effective working relationships with prospects and donors.

QualificationsIdeal candidates will have a strong interest in the mission and vision of the Latin School of Chicago.  S/he has a minimum of seven years of successful major gift fundraising experience, preferably with
independent schools and experience working with active, involved volunteer leadership. Candidates have the ability to design, implement and execute a fundraising plan, including individualized cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies; knowledge of and experience with all giving methods including stock, planned and deferred gifts.
