This position will support our growing Landscape Architecture and Land Planning practices by providing site planning, urban and landscape design, graphic and technical production and coordination of project entitlements. Project experiences will be diverse, as we provide services to both the public and private sectors. Projects types will vary, but the selected applicant will be primarily working with small to large scale commercial land development projects. Other projects may include mixed-use, streetscape, parks and community facilities, as well as various types of support to civil engineers, planners, and environmental scientists.

Position Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture

Qualifications:
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and Trimble Sketchup. Skilled in ArcGIS, Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infrastructure Modeler, and 3D Studio Max), and Wordpress preferred but not a requirement.

Fairfax County, a diverse, dynamic and growing jurisdiction in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, is seeking a professional planner and/or transportation/traffic engineer. Work assignments will be focused on the land development process providing exposure to a variety of transportation disciplines including traffic operations, road construction, transit, transportation demand management (TDM), and pedestrian/bicycle that will have application to a diverse and complex land development caseload. Primary assignments will include review and analysis of the transportation characteristics of development proposals and identification and pursuit of measures to address network impacts; lead interactions with staff, the development community, citizens, advisory groups, task forces, and elected officials; and preparation of written reports and public presentations that are related to these assignments. Supervision of professional staff is also anticipated. Fairfax County faces significant transportation challenges and is seeking innovative solutions. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong background in land use and transportation planning. Professional license in engineering or planning. Ideal candidate will have experience in: evaluating transportation network impacts of land use proposals, negotiation skills, coordinating with local, state, and federal government organizations; working with the public and officials on transportation issues; GIS and traffic impact analysis, strong analytical skills, excellent oral and written communications skills, ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects and assignments and establish priorities, and ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is generally sedentary. However, employee may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items under 25 pounds in weight.
